Claim: I voted against the new Minimum Wage and Paid Sick Leave.
Facts:
The voter-approved minimum wage increase to $15/hour is fully in place—I did not vote to reduce or repeal it.
– The Legislature passed a follow-up bill to make the law work better in practice, which included:
- A youth minimum wage for 14–15-year-olds with strict work limitations
- A predictable annual growth formula
– These updates are standard “clean-up” improvements, and many were requested by the original ballot initiative’s sponsors.
Claim: I voted against Medical Marijuana.
Facts:
- I voted FOR LB 933, the primary medical cannabis bill, on General File.
- The bill ultimately failed due to unrelated “poison pill” amendments added by other senators.
- I have not voted against medical marijuana since the ballot initiative passed.
- I do oppose recreational marijuana or weakening medical safeguards to achieve it.
- Medical Marijuana, as passed by the voters, is completely unchanged from the original intent of the petition.
Claim: I supported diverting money from public schools to private schools.
Facts:
I have cast ZERO votes for private school vouchers this year.
I voted for a state budget that includes:
–$2.5 billion in public school funding – the highest in Nebraska history
–$0 for private school scholarships
I also voted to remove proposed scholarship funding from the budget before final passage.
The legislative process matters. In the Nebraska Legislature, it is common to refine and tweak laws after they pass. The goal isn’t to undo the will of the people, it’s to make these new policies work effectively.

The minimum wage increase is intact with a predictable annual growth formula. - I supported medical marijuana legislation, and the language from the ballot passed by Nebraska voters is exactly what’s on the books today.
- I have consistently supported public schools, passed legislation to improve them, and voted FOR the budget which included $2.5B for public schools and zero dollars for private schools.
The facts matter, and my record is clear. Don’t listen to the lies.
